Mennens successfully delivers and assembles pilar jib cranes for EPCOR
At Mennens, we take on every challenge with determination and expertise. We recently had the opportunity to showcase our craftsmanship at EPCOR in Schiphol-Rijk, where we were involved in an interesting project: supplying and assembling 10 pilar jib cranes in various designs.
The assignment was clear: with the expansion of EPCOR's existing premises, including a new industrial hall, cranes were an essential addition. Our team was ready to tackle this task with full commitment.
The execution went almost seamlessly, thanks to our strong focus on cooperation within the construction team. Communication, both prior to and during the work, played a crucial role in the successful completion of the project.
With a permanent mechanic at sight, assisted by dedicated colleagues, each crane was carefully installed and tested. The use of electric chain hoists and radio remote controls ensured efficient operation of the cranes.
Of course, there were challenges along the way, such as the specific thickness of the existing floor. But with creative solutions, including enlarged base plates and chemical anchors, we successfully overcame these obstacles.
After completion of the project, including test loads and transfer of technical documentation, most of the pillar jib cranes are now in the hands of the customer. And who is this customer?
Meet EPCOR
EPCOR BV is a 100% subsidiary of KLM and part of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance. From its modern facility at Schiphol-Rijk, the company provides Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) support for APUs (Auxiliary Power Units) from Honeywell and Pratt & Whitney Canada. They do this for airlines from around the world and for a wide range of commercial aircraft types such as the Airbus A220, A320 and A330/340 and Boeings B737, B777 and B787. In addition to APU capabilities, EPCOR also maintains and overhauls many other components installed on large commercial aircraft.
This project was a great opportunity to collaborate and showcase our craftsmanship. At Mennens, we are proud to have contributed to EPCOR's success and look forward to future collaborations.
