At Mennens, sustainability is an integral part of the strategy. We reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption. We are continuously working on circularity. We contribute to SDG goal 13: climate action.

We are reducing our CO2 emissions in line with the 1.5-degree target from the Paris Agreement. Here we are committed to reducing our CO2 emissions according to scope 1 and 2 of the Green House Gas Protocol by 50% until the year 2030, with the year 2020 as a baseline.

To achieve this, we are taking concrete actions, including:

Electrification of vehicle fleet

All newly ordered employee cars will be electric or hybrid. Service vans will also transition: currently, electric service vans are already on the road. The ambition is for both service vans and employee cars to be 100% electric by 2030.

Sustainable product line

Our sustainable Aspire product line consists of lifting and personal protective equipment made from recycled materials, such as PET bottles. We also map the full lifecycle of these products using lifecycle assessments (LCAs).

Smart transportation

Transportation is a significant part of total CO2 emissions. Therefore, we map transport companies and make sustainable choices. The goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 compared to the 2023 level.

Monitoring waste strams

We monitor waste streams and map the amount of waste. Where possible, we recycle waste. For this we work with certified waste processors.

Informing customers

We further strengthen sustainability by informing our customers about the correct use of the products we provide. After all, correct use extends the life span of the products. We provide training in the use and offer knowledge resources. Such as webinars, podcasts and knowledge dossiers. This way, our products last longer. This also contributes to sustainability.

Sustainable supply chain: Code of Conduct for suppliers

We also expect our suppliers to treat the environment responsibly. So that together we meet the global sustainability challenge. To ensure this, all our suppliers sign our Code of Conduct. This is based on internationally recognized standards for the environment, human rights, working conditions and anti-corruption.

Local presence

To ensure quality and sustainability during the production of our products in Asia, Mennens' mother organization Axel Johnson International has a local office in Ningbo, China. Our local representatives work closely with and guide our suppliers to meet our requirements.

Having a local presence allows us to control production and work systematically on responsible production, good working conditions and human rights - all in accordance with our Code of Conduct.

Community involvement

We care about our (local) environment. We see this as an opportunity to make a positive contribution to our world.

Diversity and inclusion

Mennens embraces differences and values a diverse workforce. Because variation in ideas, backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures leads to a broader perspective and innovative insights.

Safety and health

The safety and health of our employees and our customers is number one. We take ongoing measures to ensure this and have numerous ISO, EKH and VCA certificates.
